I found this great interview with a songwriter on Youtube with a guy called Gary – you may have heard of him. He was in a tiny group called Take That.
Gary Barlow is not just a songwriter, he is one of Britain’s most successful songwriters of all time, penning 11 x number-one hit singles, 2 x number-one albums, 16 x top-five singles, has sold more than 45 million albums and has been awarded the Ivor Novella Award six times.
Somehow I think that what he has to say about being a songwriter might slightly outweigh what I do. Sliiiiiightly.
It’s a great interview full of songwriter insights conducted by BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (don’t let him put you off) and I highly recommend that you watch all the parts.
Check out Part 1 (of 4) of the video :
(you should be able to find the other parts from there.)
EXCITING NEWS : This Wednesday on SongwritingBusiness.com one of my local musical hero’s, an amazing songwriter in his own right, will be writing a post about the process of writing lyrics. I think you are going to find it extremely interesting.
Until then, happy songwriting.
